The NCDOT will begin initial paving on N.C. 150 from Jones Road SR 1760 to Miller Road SR 1509 on Tuesday, May 13.
The initial paving will consist of putting down an asphalt surface treatment (AST) course. The reason for this paving is to help with the reflective cracking that is caused by the concrete that is underneath the existing asphalt. This initial paving should take about 3 to 4 days.
After this is done, APAC Construction will come in on Monday, May 19 and pave the road with 1.5 inches of plant mix. During the time between the AST paving and the plant mix paving, motorists are asked to reduce their speed and following distance between themselves and the cars in front of them due to the fact that the AST paving can produce dust which could result in a reduction in visibility at times.
Please note that this work will cause delays for the motorists. The NCDOT suggests taking an alternate route.
