Staff reportSouth Rowan's Linn Williams will be limited to bus-driving duties as the Raiders open the 3A playoffs at R-S Central in Rutherfordton tonight at 7 p.m. Williams, serving a suspension for an ejection, believes he can handle U.S. 74 and U.S. 221 on the way to Rutherfordton, but the Raiders (16-8) may have a tougher time maneuvering around the Hilltoppers (21-3). Staff reportGREENSBORO — North Rowan's John Bostick and Rodney Smith won individual titles at the 2A state meet Friday, and North's boys finished second as a team behind Shelby. Bostick won the championship in the 110-meter hurdles for the second straight year. His time of 14.10 seconds in the final appears to have broken the 2A state meet record of 14.18 previously set by Chris Douglas of Bandys in 1999. Owen's Michael Simmerson was second with a 14.44. |
