GREENSBORO — North Rowan's John Bostick and Rodney Smith won individual titles at the 2A state meet Friday, and North's boys finished second as a team behind Shelby.
Bostick won the championship in the 110-meter hurdles for the second straight year. His time of 14.10 seconds in the final appears to have broken the 2A state meet record of 14.18 previously set by Chris Douglas of Bandys in 1999. Owen's Michael Simmerson was second with a 14.44.
Smith just missed out on making the final, and Daishion Barger was in second place late in his preliminary heat before he stumbled and fell shy of the final hurdle.
In the final of the 300-meter hurdles, Smith won with a time of 39.16 seconds. Bostick was second with a 39.18.
